Story forms are defined by how we relate to the story. We explain how we relate to stories rather simply: through Relators, Relations, and Interactivity.
Relators are the senses through which a story is told.Relations describe how we process Relators. Relations are on a scale, but we can define sections of it. On one side the scale is considered Unset, on the other side Set. Unset Relations are most open to interpretation; Set Relations are least open.
We actually have one more Relation, but we'll discuss that in another post. Interactivity is also a factor for defining story forms.
Conclusion In the next post, we'll discuss how these theories work with novels. Review the Fundamentals of Story Forms to prepare yourself! I plan on uploading the next post by Friday night.
